EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER COURSE

Next Course: November - December 2024.

Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. They have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. EMRs also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. EMRs are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response. Under medical oversight, EMRs perform basic interventions with minimal equipment.
[From the: National EMS Scope of Practice Model]

Mason County EMS & Trauma Council hosts EMR courses designed to meet the entry-level job expectations of an EMR.

Each student must demonstrate attainment of the knowledge and skills in each area taught throughout the course.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam for Emergency Medical Responders.  Once the student has successfully completed this exam, they are eligible to apply for certification through the Washington State Department of Health.
